Spooky Halloween Fruits
Updated: Oct 29, 2024

This Spooky Fruit Platter is a much healthier way to enjoy sweets these Halloween! Instead of binging on all that chocolate and candy bars why not do this easy to make fruit platter. It's a fun activity to do with kids too!
Also on Singapore, pumpkins are ridiculously expensive. A tiny little one would cost us near $12-15 USD. It's insane, and we don't really get to eat it after carving! So I carved a rockmelon instead, that also has a nice "orange" color and has a glow effect when a candle is put inside.
Ingredients
Watermelon
Tangerines
Strawberries Kiwis Rockmelon (beacuse it's cheaper than a Pumpkin in Singapore!)
White Chocolate Dark Chocolate
Instructions
Prep - Melt White and Dark Chocolate in a double boiler. I normally just put my glass bowl over a boiling pot of water to melt the chocolate. Load the chocolate into thick syringes for easy application or piping bags
Making Chocolate Eyes - I pre-made lots of "eyes' for the fruits. On a wax paper create some white chocolate circles in various sizes. When they are like 80% cooled, put the dark chocolate on them as the pupil. Leave it to 100% cool and use them to decorate all sorts of Spooky Fruits. Mummy Watermelon - Cut them into around 3/4 inch round pieces, and use a gingerbread cookie cutter to cut out "men" shapes, use the dark chocolate for the eyes and drizzle melted white chocolate to create the mummy wrapping Jack-O-Lantern Rockmelon - Slice away a small portion of the Rockmelon at the bottom so it is able to stand, you don't need to cut through. Cut away the top also to replicate the opening of a Pumpkin. After the Rockmelon is able to stand upright you can safely use a potato peeler to remove the outer skin of the melon. Use a spoon to remove the insides and carve as per normal!
Mini Tangerine Jack-O-Lanterns - peel away the skins of the tangerine and make funny faces using melted chocolate on to them. Add a couple of mint leaves at the top for some Green! Frankenstein Kiwis - Using a Spoon, try to remove the Kiwi from it's skin, leaving the more pointed portion of the Kiwi intact. Once removed use a scissors or a knife to create a jagged cap for the Kiwi. Decorate the Kiwi with monster eyes and put its furry kiwi cap back on! Chocolate Dip Strawberry - I absolutely love chocolate dipped strawberries, I just dipped them into some melted chocolate and put on those pre-made chocolate eyes!
